I’m about to give you a CRACKED way to grow your personal brand on X

It’s so painfully simple and you need to start doing it THIS WEEK

I want to walk you through something we've been watching in real time on my own account.

From February 15 to May 15, we ran a specific format hard on my account, looked something like this

Long-form breakdowns mocked up as Google Docs, screenshotted, and posted as image content.

They worked and accumulated 1,047,201 impressions on my account.

Then somewhere around mid-May, the engagement started softening. The same kind of post that did 200K impressions in March started doing 50K in May.

We ran it for 2 more weeks to make sure.

Then we switched.

Instead of standalone doc screenshots. We started doing quote tweets in 2 ways.

- Sharp opinions on other people's posts.

- Reactions inside live conversations happening in the niche.

E.g here are some quote tweets we posted on my account:

That's nearly 900K impressions from 3 quote tweets compared to 1.04M from 3 solid months of doc screenshots.

Here's what I see happening:

X stopped being a social platform and finished its transition into a reactional one.

The current algorithm is overwhelmingly rewarding people who react inside live conversations.

The same evolution has played out in every real-time medium in the last 30 years. Talk radio in the 1990s figured it out before the internet existed.

They found the shows that dominated weren't the ones with the best original monologues, they were the ones that picked up the morning's news and reacted live with sharper takes than the broadcasters who had a 24-hour delay.

Cable news pulled the same move on print journalism a decade later. By 2010, late-night TV had figured out that monologues about the day's actual events outperformed pre-written comedy.

The pattern repeats anywhere reaction speed becomes the variable that defines reach.

X has now joined that list. The platform is faster than it's ever been. Conversations move in hours.

The algorithm is built around surfacing the sharpest reactions to live moments.

If your content strategy is still built around standalone broadcast posts where you’re sitting down on a Monday and trying to write your own thing for the week, in isolation from what's happening in the feed then you're working against the current algorithm.

You're trying to start conversations on a platform that's now rewarding the people who surf the conversations already happening.

This doesn't mean you stop posting original content.

Most of what's working right now is well-structured reactions to other people's posts in your niche like a sharp opinion, layered into a story, wrapped in a format the algorithm wants to push.

The way the post is built matters as much as the take itself.

A one-line quote isn't enough.

The posts crushing right now are the ones that quote someone else's post and deliver a structured 4-6 line response with a personal angle, a story or a contrarian take.

Here's what this means for you:

Pick 10-20 accounts in your space whose audiences overlap with yours. Add them to a list so they show up cleanly in your feed.

Every weekday, scan that list for posts gaining traction or posts you have a strong opinion on.

Quote tweet at least one per day with a structured response.

Keep your original posts running too, but watch what happens to the ratio of reach over the next 14 days.

For most founders right now, quote tweets will outperform original posts by 3-5x.

The meta on every platform shifts every 18-24 months. The founders who keep growing are the ones who notice the shift first and adjust before everyone else catches up.

Right now, the shift is from broadcast to reaction.

Move accordingly.

P.S. Building this quote-tweet engine into your content strategy is most of what we do inside Mogul right now. We track the 10-20 accounts in each founder's niche, drafting sharp quote takes in their voice, and publishing them at the right moment to ride the algorithm. Book a call to see how we'd run it on your account.
