The Most Valuable Content Hire You'll Make in 2026
How to find someone who turns your expertise into a predictable acquisition channel.

A few years ago, running a founder's personal brand was genuinely annoying.
You'd have an idea on Monday, send it to a writer, wait for the draft, go through revisions, wait on a designer, approve everything, and FINALLY get it scheduled.
By the time the post went live, the conversation was already dead.
Now AI is changing how this entire operation works.
My team currently runs content across 60+ founder brands, and we're seeing how much one strong Head of Content can accomplish with the right systems behind them.
Someone who can take what's inside a founder's head and turn it into content that consistently reaches the right people.
Here's exactly what I'd look for if I were hiring one today.
1. Someone who knows how to extract great content
Founders have YEARS of valuable content sitting inside their businesses.
Stories, mistakes, opinions, client wins, frameworks, and lessons they've learned the hard way.
A good Head of Content should be able to sit on a 45-minute founder call, hear one random sentence, and immediately recognize a great post.
Their job comes down to four things:
Positioning: Know what the founder should be known for.
Extraction: Find valuable ideas inside the business.
Packaging: Turn those ideas into formats that perform.
Optimization: Study the results and improve every week.
This combination is what I'd hire for.
2. Someone who knows how to use AI
I'd have them build a central Founder Brain inside Claude before writing a single post.
Load it with the founder's positioning, voice, stories, opinions, offers, client results, previous winners, and feedback.
Then give them specialized AI agents for research, trend discovery, content formats, and performance analysis.
We're already building versions of these internally.
Imagine having a system that knows how the founder thinks, what's happening in their market, and which content formats are currently working.
That's a ridiculous amount of leverage for one person.
And it saves the founder from spending half their week explaining the same things over and over again.
3. Someone who runs a weekly operating system
Here's the exact loop I'd have them follow:
Step 1: Review the data. Identify which topics, formats, and posts attracted the right people.
Step 2: Study the market. Find trending conversations, ICP pain points, and new opportunities.
Step 3: Interview the founder. Spend 45 minutes extracting opinions, stories, and expertise around those opportunities.
Step 4: Build the next week. Write, design, distribute, and repeat.
Data → Research → Founder → Content → Distribution → Data.
Every week, you learn something new about the founder and their audience. Use those insights to make the next batch better.
4. Someone who understands how content makes money
This is where I'd pay VERY close attention during the hiring process.
Your content should accomplish three things:
Top of funnel: Get your ideal buyers discovering you.
Middle of funnel: Build trust through expertise, stories, and proof.
Bottom of funnel: Turn that trust into qualified leads and sales.
I'd want my Head of Content tracking who engages, what gets saved, which posts start conversations, and how many qualified calls we're generating.
Eventually, people start recognizing the founder's name, referencing their ideas, recommending them to others, and reaching out when they need help.
You start getting mentioned in rooms you're not even in.
That's when your personal brand becomes a real acquisition channel.
And the person managing that entire engine becomes one of the most valuable people on your team.
If you're hiring for this role, look for someone who understands your business, knows how to use AI, and can turn your expertise into a REPEATABLE CONTENT SYSTEM.
